laptop wont load past toshiba screen

Specs: Windows xp home, 2.8ghz 256 ram
i have an acer laptop which im currently using but a friend gave me his old laptop whichs has better specs (although still not great) that had no hdd its a toshiba equium a60 i took the hdd from the acer and put it into the toshiba but it wont load past the black toshiba screen occasionally it gets to the boot screen (safe mode, last known config etc) but all of these options go bk to toshiba screen sorry for the poor explanations would be very gratefull for any ideas :)
may i add that the hdd does work wen i put it bk into my acer cheers ;)

The windows configuration with the drivers for the acer motherboard etc will not be liked when you put it in the toshiba and so windows pukes on it. You can try a "repair of the operating system" which will usually work', but it depends how familiar you are with a computer.

thanks for the reply mate well the hdd is already been wiped should i put it into the toshiba and try an xp reinstall? :)

you might as well, but you may need another machine with internet to download the proper drivers for the toshiba. If you want to recover data off the wiped drive then do not try the re-install....otherwise.....as long as the hard drive is ok.....and you have an xp serial key. good to go,
