Specs: N/A
Please help. I upgraded my memory from the original 512 (2 X 256) to 2GB (2 X 1GB). When I tried turning on the laptop, it came on with a black screen. I tried reinstalling a few times, still will not work. When I put back the old memory in, it came on with a black screen, too. I am worried that I broke my laptop. I read on one of the threads about using an eraser with the connector and I did that, it still won't come on. Please tell me what to do. I am running on Windows XP.

If you have a video out port, try connecting to the TV. It could be that your video driver uses Nvidia and if you turned off without shut down procedure, the application loses the dual-view ( or clone) option and only the video mode is available. This worked for a tenant where I live so I know it works.

Otherwise, the ram itself may be incompatible with your laptop. You need to check the specs for your laptop before upgrading ram. You just cannot use anything in laptops, they have specific needs.
