laptop typing a letter on its own

Specs: Windows 24.01.2010
has anyone figured out how to stop a laptop from continuously typing a letter ( mine types e) ?? I have tried opening the computer in debugging mode but it has no affect. I have read several q&a but see no really effective solution - key is not stuck!

Are you sure the key isn't stuck? Have you removed the key to make sure? What if you connect a USB keyboard?

This sort of symptom is almost always a hardware issue with the keyboard.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Try going into safe mode and seeing if it happens there. Also, I would download MalwareBytes and run a scan on it, might be a case of malware.

If all else fails, get your laptop's keyboard replaced as per Derek.

I did pull off the key and clean around it. I haven't played with it much but yesterday afternoon I put on "Scoll Lock" and it at least temporarily stopped the typing? Not sure why?

With the computer turned off tap the "e" key quite a lot of times and quite hard. This often helps key issues, at least for a while.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

"Scoll Lock"

As previously suggested, did you try/borrow another keyboard?

One with an USB connection is required.
