Specs: Windows XP
My laptop LCD screen has spoiled ( lots of vertical lines) & I use external dispaly like a monitor (Acer) or TV (Sony Bravia). Recently, the external monitor has stopped displaying any video whereas the spoilt screen of the laptop displays the video. Only blank box of Media player or VLC player appears. All other things on the laptop screen appear, just videos dont. Videos on Youtube appear when viewed online, but downloaded videos dont appear.

Check the setting of your graphics card and choose the correct output screen.
Seems, that you're using dual screen settings right now.

Replying to my own post. I just found an answer posted in 2003 & it worked fine for me even now.
The problem is due to Hardware acceleration which got set to Max. when I loaded some games. Lowering the setting to disable directdraw & direct3d acceleration solved the issue.
