If you're replacing a main hard drive (the one your OS is/was on) then you'll have to reinstall Windows from scratch. If your adding a drive to a system that already has one (not likely for a laptop) then you'll need to configure it to not be the bootable drive (jumpers, etc).
thank you for responding,yeah i bought a new hard drive and i tried putting xp disc in it wont load.labtop didnt have a hard drive when i got it,how do i do what you said about not bootable to drive?ty
