ip configuration set media state to connected

November 14, 2010 at 20:30:02
Specs: Windows XP
When I run ipconfig from the comand prompt I get a report that lists the "media State"as "media disconnected". How do I change the state to connected?
Also have settings listed for a Belkin wireless devise. I have uninstalled that devise and deleted everything I can find with a amention of the word but still the ipconfig spits it up.

the interface state "media disconnected" just means that the cable is unplugged (or no current wifi session for a wireless nic.) If you are only using one network connection at the moment, then only one of your interfaces will report that the media is connected. You don't have to worry much about interfaces that show up in ipconfig. If you aren't using them, they aren't affecting your machine.
