Greetings,

I'm trying to change hard drives, but my
system didn't come with an optical or
floppy drive. I've tried booting from usb, but I
get two different types of errors,
depending on which method I use.

Method A:
I used Multiboot to create a nlited version
(integrated drivers from driverpacks.net)
of Windows XP boot usb thumb drive.
Switched BIOS to boot to usb. Windows
starts copying files over, to do the install, then
I get a BSOD with a stop error that
looks like hdd controller.

Method B:
Used wintousb to create a nlited version
(integrated drdivers from driverpacks.net)
of Windows XP boot usb thumb drive.
Switched BIOS to boot to usb. Upon
making the selection to boot to USB, the
system freezes (waited about 10
minutes before power switch).

I've been able to create a DOS 7.1 USB Boot
disk that works, but it doesn't see
the hdd, or an onboard USB CD ROM I have
connected. Also, BIOS doesn't see
USB CDROM, even though it has an option if
it's available.

Suggestions, thoughts would be greatly
appreciated
snekr

Found the problem. I needed to get an altered ntdetect file. Now
it works great.
