He typed Italian, not Spanish
Google's translate defaults to translating his text from Spanish, but result in English is not good, ciao is Italian, and it offers to translate it to Italian in the first box as an alternate

ciao, chi mi spiega come funziona e come mettere in un sito internet proctocol

" target="_blank">|en|...

(I have no idea why the three things with letters between less than and greater than characters are in that - a quirk of the software used for this site that shortens longer links to save visual space in the text.)

Thanks Tubesandwires I was aware that he had type in Italian but I assumed he would have the sense to change the language functions. It just gives me the heebies when foreign language posters post in their language on an English forum. One would expect that they would do the translation first instead of expecting a helper to do it for them.

PS: Three dots (...) is an ellipse and it indicates that there is more information following

In my experience, the chances are , say, 99% that those who type the original post in another language on this site, or on another site I used to answer on, will never make another post in the thread.

On the other site, Lanyon Computer's Constructor's Corner (Lanyon Computers was a small shop in south east Australia near Melbourne), which no longer exists, we got hundreds of subjects started by people who typed in Spanish or Portuguese (they often made many typos in their own language) , some in French and Italian.
(I'm in Canada).

Do you mean ellipsis ?

I know about the software this site uses that shortens longer links that places those three dots at the end of the shortened link, but it sometimes makes mistakes - e.g. long links to the HP site often don't work - and in this case I have no idea why the two br and the one p between the greater than and less than characters appeared in the text I made a link to on the Google translator site. They're not there when I try to use Edit to get rid of them.
I tried typing those in the post exactly as they appear - that resulted in blank spaces in the result in the post after I had saved it.

Too quick with the spell check I was! I did mean ellipses, thanks for the correction.

Yes, when you click on Change or Replace at the wrong time, the spell checker may not have the proper spelling chosen in it's list of suggested words, or none of them may be applicable.

I've been using a spell checker with my posts for a couple of years or more, here, all the time, otherwise it would take me a lot longer to correct my many typos. The more tired I am, the clumsier my fingers get, the more typos I make.
I should have taken a typing course way back in high school.
