|I too was caught up in the same dilemma ! I ran IE 6 and finally was forced to look at other options after one of my favorite sites quit supporting it. |
There have been known issues with IE 7 & 8 both and I really didn't care for either one. I tried Google Chrome which was extremely fast but it had issues with some active x controls that were needed on some of the sites I frequent.
I then installed FireFox 3 and found it to be fast and extremely secure and I like the various add-ons that can be used to customize the browser. I never cared for the tabbed browsing but have gotten used to it and use it more and more as I get more experienced with it!
You will still need to update to another version of IE which at this time I would recommend version 7. Just leave it there if you choose to go with FF3 and use IE7 only if you need to!
