I've recently installed a Brother MFC-255CW printer and since then, my internet connection keeps going down. Initially it seemed to happen when the phone (broadband, on the same line) rang, but I've noticed that it seems to be doing it more often when the phone is idle. I've unplugged the phone cable from the printer, and this has made no difference. I'm sure it's something to do with the printer - any suggestions?
What kind of Internet do you have? If it is DSL then you need to put a DSL filter on the printer's Fax line. It also sounds like it could be a WiFi issue with your phone. Do you have cordless phones and is your computer connected to the DSL router Wirelessly? If so you may want to change your Wireless Channel on your Router.
Hey Ace - thanks so much for replying so quickly. I already had a filter on, so (eventually) managed to change the wireless channel, and all seems to be going OK. Huge saving of time and money there, so many thanks for the great work!
