installing XP from usb on netbook

Specs: 7, Dual Core/8 gigs
I have an Asus N10E that I replaced the HDD on. I've installed Linux and Home XP via YUMI multiboot. The problem is that my XP Home key won't work. I previously downloaded an OEM Home version with SP3 and burned a disc from it. Then with YUMI, created the ISO from that disc. I looked at the serial and found it's a "Royalty" version. When I try to activate Windows it says it's an incorrect product key. So when I try to activate through the telephone, it still says it's invalid.

Now, I know that the disc works. I've installed it on my Emachines and used the key that is on the sticker. Since the disc is SP3 I had to activate it through the telephone, and it worked fine.

I'd rather use the key I have instead of downloading a pirated version.

What are my options?

Old stuff that still works, somewhat....

If you've already used the Product Key on another computer, Microsoft will not allow you to use the same key on a different computer unless you uninstall Windows on the other PC where that key has been used.

I'm not sure you understand. I'm reinstalling XP on my netbook. I'm using the same key it had before. The key that's on the COA sticker on the bottom. So I'm using the key that came with it originally.

I did the same thing on the Emachines. I used the key on the COA sticker on the side of the Emachines.

But everything worked fine for the Emachines. And not for the netbook.

I believe the netbooks use the XP Home ULCPC (ultra low cost personal computer) edition, so it will have a different COA.

I don't think that's the problem. Of all the ULCPC COA stickers that I have seen, the all say it. Mine does not.
