All of that is basically is Wireless Networking------

In Windows XP HELP, click Index, then type:

Below that double click "Networking"

Tells all about how to connect computers,
and setting up your network.
For my Laptop with XP, I bought a Wireless Adaptor,
inserted that into slot, turned computer on,
then XP installed the drivers, then when a network is detected, XP then informs me, then I would connect. NO software needed for me.
ALSO, check the setting in this ---
Wireless Configuration for Wi-Fi.

* Click Start

* Click Control Panel

* Select Network and Internet Connections

* The Network and Internet Connections window will appear:
Select the Network Connections icon

* The Network Connections window will appear:
Double click on Local Area Connection

* The Local Area Connection window will appear:
Select the General tab and click, or highlight Internet Protocol and press Properties

* The TCP/IP Properties window will appear:

* Make sure that both the Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically are selected, or checked.
