If her machine can boot from the USB drive, try to copy the CD to the USB stick & boot from there. Do it on another machine if needed.

Thanks guy, i took the whole day try to boot from the usb with the xp copy in the usb. But i still couldn't get it. Hope you guys can give more specific info.

What i have done today is i download the Hirenboot 15.1, follow the instruction on this website to put it in the usb and i can boot from the usb.

Then it comes up with a menu with lots of options.

Then i choose Dos, try to setup from the winXP folder which is in another partition (Driver D:) which i haven't format yet

There was a partition C: which was used to install the OS before, and i did format this one.

Then in the Dos Commander, i couldn't see the C: or D: either, the only thing i see are the R: which is the usb.

I am not good at computer, i remember i used to put a boot cd, and then when i got into Dos, i can see all the partition on my hard driver. Now with the usb, did the same thing, but i didn't see anything.

Hope anyone can help me out. Thanks

No CD Driver or no CD Drive, not the same thing ?

MS-DOS is positively ancient, over a decade old.

A ISO has to be "burnt" it is just an image file, not bootable by just copying.

Using Unetbootin you can create a Bootable USB Flash Drive from an ISO, see:

http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net

Last but not least the version of XP must match the OEM XP Version stated on the CoA Sticker or else the License Key will not work.

Regards the comment above regards ISO, it is perfectly legal to share CDs, it is not however legal to install without CoA/License key.

You should get the Unetbootin Menu with Options, just press the ENTER Key on chosen option.

"The xp i download from the internet, it is XP SP3"

That could just be an SP3 Update to XP. If it is a complete XP package then it is not legit so about anything could happen.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

"auntie's normal use." could likely be satisfied by a linux distro that can boot from a flash drive.
