You don't use GPEDIT to turn off IE8 InPrivate browsing. By default it is OFF anyway. If you want to know how to turn it ON and OFF, first go HERE then click on the hyperlink How do I turn InPrivate Filtering on and off?

Or is it that you wish to permanently disable this IE8 feature so that no one can hide from you where they go on the internet?

Hi sillytits

Thank you for the PM. My long standing policy is to never answer questions asked by users via PM. In your PM, you wanted to know specifically how you can uninstall IE8 and go back to IE7.

HERE is how you do it. It comes with a caveat. If you installed IE8 before you installed XP SP3, it cannot be removed unless you first uninstall XP SP3.

Alternatively there is another way to permanently disable InPrivate browsing feature by doing some registry edit. I hope you are familiar with working with Windows Registry. If you are, go HERE and follow the instructions given by lurkswithin in Response Number 6.

Either way, Make sure you first do a System Restore backup before you do anything.

Let us know how you make out. Good luck

xp user I am really sorry I used the pm, to contact you. I wasn't sure how to use this. Never done it before. It won't happen again. I uninstalled windows 8 because it wasn't working right for a long time. Some sites i.e Youtube inform me that soon they will fade out E7. Anyhoo I am not familiar with registry. But never mind, I will however study it!! lol.

Thanks again and once again sorry, for the pm :o)
