Solved IE8 InPrivate Browsing show up when I click on link in email

February 22, 2013 at 11:40:29
Specs: Windows XP
When I click on my IE8 desktop icon and IE8 opens, there is no InPrivate labeling in the address bar. However, if I click on a link that opens IE8, InPrivate shows in the address bar and basically locks up most of the functions including being able to scroll through the webpage.

I have tried multiple things including the group policy you have mentioned before. Why does InPrivate only show up when I click on a link in an email?

"When I click on my IE8 desktop icon and IE8 opens, there is no InPrivate labeling in the address bar."

InPrivate Browsing does not start automatically. You have to click "Tools" in the toolbar, then select "InPrivate Browsing" from the menu. It will then appear in the address bar.

I don't want InPrivate Browsing to start at all. I am trying to figure out why it turns on only after I click a link in an email.

When I check the tools section, InPrivate Browsing is not checked, yet it shows up anyway.

It could be inprivate filtering, this can be turned off under the safety settings.
