I have an XP computer and the other night IE 8 starting acting up. Task Manager said it wasn't responding, so I used the option "Start without add-ons" and the problem went away except the annoying info bar message that IE is running without add-ons kept popping up. I then went in and disabled all the add-ons. Problem resolved. Why would I have this issue all of sudden? Could it be because I haven't run Windows updates in a while? I ran a virus scan and it came up clean.
Virus scanner was updated before run. Spyware Blaster also updated to latest version. The add on issue started BEFORE any of these updates, so I don't think it could be a result of updating. I'll have to do further research on the web.
#3 is the way forward. Whatever addon is the culprit you first decide whether or not you even need it. Google will tell you what it is for or we can help. If you definitely need it then Uninstall it first and collect it again - that might fix it.
Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
