Solved IE8 Add-ons suddenly an issue?

June 27, 2013 at 01:07:52
Specs: Vista Ultimate, SP2, 3.0Ghz/2Ghz
I have an XP computer and the other night IE 8 starting acting up. Task Manager said it wasn't responding, so I used the option "Start without add-ons" and the problem went away except the annoying info bar message that IE is running without add-ons kept popping up. I then went in and disabled all the add-ons. Problem resolved. Why would I have this issue all of sudden? Could it be because I haven't run Windows updates in a while? I ran a virus scan and it came up clean.

It could be from an update. Updates maybe running automatically. Did you update your virus scanner before you ran it? If not, update it first.

Virus scanner was updated before run. Spyware Blaster also updated to latest version. The add on issue started BEFORE any of these updates, so I don't think it could be a result of updating. I'll have to do further research on the web.

✔ Best Answer
Enable your add-ons one by one until you find the culprit. Then ensure it's up to date with your version of IE.

#3 is the way forward. Whatever addon is the culprit you first decide whether or not you even need it. Google will tell you what it is for or we can help. If you definitely need it then Uninstall it first and collect it again - that might fix it.
