Ibm thinkpad t41 start up problem

Specs: Windows XP
HI MY IBM THINKPAD WITH WINDOWS XP WHEN SWITCHED ON
SHOWS WINDOWS XP TRIES TO START FOR 5 MINS OR MORE THEN
SCREEN GOES BLUE THEN BLACK THEN TRIES TO START AGAIN
KEEPS GOING ON THIS LOOP
I CAN NOT ACCESS ANY SUB MENUS , ANY IDEAS

No need to post in all Caps. Have you tried booting to Safe Mode or Last Known Good Configuration?

I would boot to Recovery Console and run a chkdsk. If that doesn't work, run a Windows Repair.
