I want to install ethernet driver into Lenovo system

February 13, 2012 at 09:37:24
Specs: Windows XP-Pro w/service pak 3
It is a 2005 refurbished unit (whatever that means) and has XP Pro w/sp 3. I was directed to Lenovo site to locate and download correct driver and then burn it (using my laptop) onto disc and then install it into the Lenovo. I kind of thought this would be taken care of by Windows but apparently not. I have no success thru Device Manager and and Internet Connection Wizard and I know my broadband cable is functioning. I am sure I may have left out some info so please be gentle with me. It is 09:40 PST and I will be away until after 13:00. thanks.

"I kind of thought this would be taken care of by Windows but apparently not"

Windows was released in 2001. It only contains a limited number of drivers on the disk & they are obviously over 10 years old. If your hardware is newer than that (I suspect it is), the chances of drivers being on the disk are slim.

You need to go to the Lenovo site, locate the appropriate drivers for your system, download them, copy them to a disk or USB jumpdrive, then install the drivers on your Lenovo system.

The model & model number of your Lenovo would be extremely helpful.
