Solved I need to access DOS after wiped laptop HDD

Specs: Windows XP
The laptop (Toshiba Satellite S1800-712) has been wiped and so on start up I am pressing F12 but I need to reset the time and date, how can I achieve this please?

If you wiped the hard drive, there is no DOS, in fact, here's no DOS in XP anyway. What you apparently need to do is access the BIOS. See the following:

Yeah, I think you're misunderstanding the term 'dos'. Dos is an operating system the same way windows XP. If you were to boot to dos using a floppy bootdisk you could change the date and time using dos commands but a much easier way--and what I think you mean--is to get into bios setup and make the changes there.

It's kind of odd you'd wipe the hard drive and then worry about the date. Is that in some way causing a problem with what I assume is your attempt to reinstall XP?

To add to the above, I don't see where the BIOS date has anything to do with Windows. If the wrong date is being displayed you either cleared the CMOS or the CMOS battery is weak or dead.

Ater checking I see that unit is probably ten years old. So, the CMOS battery is most likely dead.

What do you intend to install on that laptop? It originally came with WinXP home edition.
