thanx gretti, i have gotten that far but what i am unsure of are the specific ones i need to install. i have never had this problem before so i am stumped.i dont understand if its in the bios or what but i did istall an amr 2 modem driver and it still did not help.this is actually a friends computer that i am trying to fix. i was i contact with lenovo and the rep told me to use a certain one but when i went to install it says that system update could not find a supported .net framework.

"i did istall an amr 2 modem driver and it still did not help"

That's for the 56K modem, are you using dial-up? You need to install the Network drivers.

Thanx Gretti, it all did work. One more final question though. I was plugging it in to my wired connection, and now disconnected it placed her wireless G plus notebook card from Belkin in and it will not setup from the wizard. Do I have to get drivers specifically for that card or should the wireless driver I installed from your list work with it? Thanx again.

Belkin drivers will be found at the Belkin website. You didn't post the model so I can't link you to the specific driver download.

There should be a wireless adapter in that computer, why do you need the belkin one?
