I need help finding my D DRIVE

April 16, 2012 at 09:52:45
Specs: Windows 7
So to give you some background of the issue. I had two partition on my computer. C drive and D drive. I used D drive mainly for ALL OF MY DATA ( pic, vids, files, songs, etc.) that was my bread and butter as that is what i used on daily bases. all other software and stuff went to C drive.

Today, all of a sudden I just dont see my D drive at all!!!! I have no clue why and what is going on. NOW to make the matter worst, my "back up" was also in D drive. So I am in a limbo as to if i cant find my D drive, i can back up. and to find D drive i would have backed up my comp. it is not like the D drive is erased or any thing, because C drive is still 100 GB which is only part of my hard drive space.

the issue which I think, is related to the back up file. I remember I was trying to clear a lot of space from my computer so i was deleting the past backed up data and keeping only the few most recent ones.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON??? I am completely lost and need help ASAP. without D drive, this comp is pretty much useless other than surfing online.

Thank you

Does it show up under computer management? Control panel>administrative tools, computer management or right click my computer and select manage...that should show all partitions etc.

you can try one of the products like getdataback or others available on the web.

Lesson you should take from this is don't store your backups on the same drive you are backing up.

now after running this recovery software you shared a link to. It seems like, it has found some of the files NOT ALL. I was trying to take a prnt scrn of it, but u cant attach it in this forum. so what it came up with is
1st folder "roots" under which it has many diff folders some of which i recognize some i dont. it has files which i recognize some i dont rem/ or dont know abt.
2nd folder "deleted" in which there abt 10-15 green colored folder which are the back up files i had deleted. (if u read my original question you will know what they are.) after that the same folder are shown again which are in the "roots" folder.

now what my understanding is, MOST OF THE FILES (IF NOT ALL) are the files which are in my SD card which is inserted in my comp. other than the green folders.

I HAVE NO CLUE what should be the next step.

How did we go from two partitions on your drive to a SD card?
