See the link below for an explanation on the limits with WinXP and possible workarounds. If Lacie has an overlay that allows drives larger than 2TB then it should work. Did you look for the drive in Disk Management? According to Lacie your drive is not compatible with WinXP. See the specs below.

Minimum System Requirements

Computer with a Thunderbolt, USB-C (Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1), USB 3.0, FireWire 800, or USB 2.0 port Minimum free disk space: 600MB recommended
Operating system:
Thunderbolt: Latest version of Windows® 7 / Mac OS® X 10.11 or later
Thunderbolt 3: Latest version of Windows® 10/ Mac OS 10.12 (Sierra) and later
USB-C: Latest version of Windows 7 and later / Mac OS X 10.11 and later
USB 3.0: Latest version of Windows 7 / Mac OS X 10.11 or later
FireWire 800: Latest version of Windows 7 / Mac OS X 10.11 or later

Partitioning to less than 2TB per partition should allow you to use the drive with WinXP. You could then foormat using NTFS.

You may need to manually Initialize Disk.

If manual doesn't work, use this.

I use a 3rd party GPT driver for XP. Paragon GPT Disk Manager:

Unfortunately it's been discontinued. I'd contact them anyway.
