first IE7 does suck, However it does sound like a virus may have gotten through, what ver of kaspersky are you running as the older versions do have a known problem with cpu usage. Download and use any small virus checking program then check for updates on kaspersky

I have not tried uninstalling Kaspersky but I had updated it from the 2010 to 2011 version. I also ran malwarebytes and mcafee and did not come up with anything.

Where can I locate my cpu usage- I'm a novice to this all.

Should I stop using internet explorer 7 and just use mozilla?

Should I just uninstall Kaspersky and use either malwarebytes or Macfee?

"Should I just uninstall Kaspersky and use either malwarebytes or Macfee?"

We are trying to isolate the problem, for the moment, disconnect from the internet & uninstall Kaspersky.

"I also ran malwarebytes and mcafee"

Is that the free version of malwarebytes?

Is that the full version of mcafee or one of the free versions?
Exact name & version please.

I just uninstalled Kaspersky and it is showing my anti virus may be at risk (I know). What next? I can either install mcafee or malwarebyes (not free version)- which is better and easier? The mcafee came when I installed Adobe Reader X version.
I also still have Kaspersky internet security 2010 CD......

yes, install malwarebyes or spybot (as long as its a fresh version) and scan again.
cpu usage can be found in device manager (hold down CTRL ALT and press Delete(just once)
internet explore does suck, so either goto IE8 or google chrome etc your choice
you need to find out what is running on your PC,for this i use hicjackthis (small easy to download just google) run this it will list all running processors (including windows processors so dont remove anything your not sure of) check the processes, you can use google to check the name and see what it is, then place a tick beside it and click fix checked, rescan to make sure its gone.

Ok, that is what I expected.

Can I run more than one anti-virus program? Anti-spyware program? Firewall? Should I?
http://ask-leo.com/can_i_run_more_t...
Running two or more real-time anti-virus monitors at the same time is very likely to cause a conflict. That conflict could result in error messages, crashes of the anti-virus programs, or other types of failure.

Keep Malwarebytes ( MBAM ), it is not a real-time AV, the paid version is. Whenever you run MBAM to check if your system is clean, make sure you update it first.

Now you can either install Kaspersky 2011
Or,
I use & recommend Microsoft Security Essentials

Links are like us, they die, this one is dead.

Use Windows Add & Remove to uninstall McAfee.

All the other links are Ok, I provide them to make sure if any die, you have another link to try.

Use the link you find easiest to use for the download, your choice.
