I have XP CD but no Product key

October 15, 2010 at 07:59:03
Specs: XP Professional 2002
I have started re-installing my XP CD only to realise that the product key is lost. Unfortunately, I am stuck as I am unable to insert the product key number. What do I do? Buy another CD with a product key? Please advise.

The key is supposed to be on the cd somewhere in some file. I forget where but search web pages for where it is.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

sounds like you are trying to use a dell xp disc. Just use the number on the sticker of your PC and then you may have to call to activate it if it won't activate online.

Jefro, that key found in the unattend.txt file may let you install windows, but you can't activated windows when it's used. That same key, if I am not mistake, would be found on all the same versions of xp cd. For example retail full version of xp home edition.
