Specs: Windows XP MCE
I am having troubles booting up... It says i am missing the config file... I have tried to run from the recovery partition and the config.alt is missing or corrupt as well. I have a question... My widows CD i have, it wont run the Automated Recovery Module from it but it will allow me to do a install over the existing OS. Will I lose my files i have on my laptop if i install over the existing one? I have some important (well important to me) files i would like to keep off of it. what do you think? Thinks very much.

You will need lose your files.

Use a bootable cd to try to recover them

eg Knoppix

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.
