Specs: Windows XP
To start off, I know very little about computers!
Basically, I had a few problems with viruses,
so I ran some software and that successfully
got rid of all the rubbish that was polluting my
computer. Unfortunately, it also got rid of
pretty much everything else. I was going to run
a system restore but there are no programs
that can do it. The only things that are left are
windows media player, notepad and windows
picture viewer. I lost the XP disc a long time
ago so I am unable to reinstall it. What do I
do?! Thanks for any help!

SamW123, Are you saying that when you click Start>Programs the menu is Empty or nothing shows up? If that's the case check out the link below.

Start Menu 'All Programs' is empty or nothing happens when you click the menu

You can try this:
Click Start>Run then copy and paste:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Click OK.

Restart your computer.

Sorry, I probably haven't been clear enough. Basically when I
go to All programs>Accessories>System Tools>System
Restore it asks me what program I want to use to open the
file. I have three options: Notepad, Windows Media Player or
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
I have the same problem trying to open anything. Obviously,
none of these work. If I try to open anything on the control
panel, it tells me that the program could not be found.

Thanks for any help!
