I can't log in to windows

Microsoft Windows xp professional w/serv...

Specs: Windows XP PRO, 1gb
I reinstalled HP and Windows drivers and now am being asked for a Windows XP password. The user name says 'owner'. I have tried my usual passwords with this user name and it won't allow me access to my laptop. I never had this setting before so I must have reset the security settings by mistake I think. I don't know much about computers, help would be greatly appreciated as I am very stressed by this. Thanks,

Nicole

have you tried no password i.e. just hit return?

If you have, and nothing works, then login using an administrator account and change the password of the user you are trying to use ('owner') to something you know.

Similarly you can also use the administrator account to add another user or users with names and passwords that you prefer.

Opps feel like a dummy now! All I had to do was click ok! Thanks for your help, what a great site!! I could have paid heaps to get that solved. I know one should read instructions, but I find it hard to find the answer specific to my question and there is so much info on the net I find it hard to sort through it all. This is the first time I have ever asked a question of any kind online, I normally wade through tons of stuff online and never find the answer I'm looking for. It's how I came to this site. Thanks again.
