Of course you can't. A doc file is a document file meant to be read by Microsoft Word. An exe is a program.

What are you trying to accomplish anyway?

save it as a doc file and then change the extension...

Changing the extension on a file doesn't do anything to change the contents. Just gets Windows confused as to what type of file it is and is likely to bring the computer to a crashing halt.

A Doc file is mostly text to be read and displayed by Microsoft Office.

An .exe file is and executable file, mostly binary data, designed to be read by the CPU and make the computer perform a particular task.

If you had told us that in the first place you would have got an answer. Just edit the extension in Widows Explorer. Although the name has been changed to .DOC it is still an .EXE file.
