|1.) What is the exact problem you're having?|
1-A.) Can you no longer check your Roadrunner email through Outlook Express? Maybe your Roadrunner account was deleted when you canceled service? If not, you should try going to their website and use the webmail while you get your Outlook Express client working again.
1-B.) If your email account hasn't been changed, you shouldn't have trouble accessing it. Did you configure Outlook Express to specifically use a broadband connection? See if you can set it to use the same connection as Internet Explorer, or setup your new connection.
2.) Outlook Express is outdated. You should update to Windows Live Mail. Although the version for Windows XP is also outdated, at least it's much more recent.
3.) What Steve was referring to is setting up your Gmail or Hotmail accounts with your email client using POP3 mail protocol. What it sounds like you're trying to do for the time being is forward your Roadrunner email to your Gmail or Hotmail account. This problem could be related to question 1-A.
Apologies if I don't respond to your reply immediately. I don't check this site daily.
