I cannot find my com & LPT ports

Specs: Windows XP
I cannot find my com & LPT ports. I reinstalled my windows XP and now I cannot get internet. The computer tells enable potr com and LPT but in devices manager i cannot find them.

I doubt you need com port unless you using dial up modem connected to the com port.

You need to get the driver for the nic card.

See help and support pages for how to view system information. msinfo or msinfo32

It will help you in finding the correct device driver. Also the OEM site may have the correct info and drivers.

Note that your internet is either Dial-Up or LAN.

COM and LPT ports are usually installed via the Hardware Detection phase of the OS install.

Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) should have them listed. From there you should be able to install/trouble shoot driver issues.

In Device Manager, look under "Network adapters". Expand that and post that info for further assistance.
