I've never used chrome but there should be a way to keep it from running the downloaded programs on its own. It ought to be in its setttings somewhere.

Also, when you run a downloaded program it usually extracts its files into a new folder that may or may not have anything to do with downloaded file's original location. Or sometimes the files are extracted to a temp folder, then the installation is run and afterwards the temp files are deleted.

Hi billy9,

Let me know the browser you are using to download.

For Google Chrome, press CTRL + J to open the downnloads tab and you will see the complete download history.

For Firefox, click tools > downloads to open the download history box.

Before downloading take a note of the file name. Search should find it after it has downloaded. The download location can be changed in your browser - which is another way to find out where it is putting them..

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Or, if you don't remember the file name, choose to download the file again. The 'save as' box will show where it intends to put the file, which likely is where the original download is. Then just close the box to cancel the new download.

I'm not a Chrome user either but I would have expected Run or Save options the same as other browsers. Obviously if you use Run then there will be no downloaded file.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hi billy9,

If you click on the application while it is getting downloaded , it is executes automatically. This happens with Google Chrome.

Also, some applications are not downloaded directly. An application is downloaded instead which then downloads the actual application.

Let me know the following details:

1. Which application did you download?
2. Which website do you use to download the applications?

Thanks & Regards

Re #10

The file usually remains if you use Save rather than Run, although there are exceptions as per #9.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
