HP Officejet AIO missing file usbscan.inf

My computer is not communicating with my printer. A message says this file is missing: c:\windows\inf\usbscan.inf
This printer has been working for years.

... you could try System Restore reverting to a restore point altering the calendar to when it was working fine

... or reinstall the software/driver from supplied cd or download

.

I have already done all of those things. I have also hooked up a different printer. In all cases, the computer can not find the printer to finish the driver installation.

(for Genius ColorPage-HR6/Vivid3 USB 2000 ME 98SE) .... all I can find @ moment.

... copy n paste the below into notepad save as "type" all files

... name it usbscan.inf ... maybe the software will add the needed lines(?)
