How to start .exe file after login

Specs: Windows Vista, AMD 955
Hi folks,

Windows XP

I need to start an executable file .exe to read a .dat file after staring PC and login. Please advise where shall I create a shortcut ? (no schedule task)

Try placing the shortcut in your Start>All Pograms>Startup folder.

You copy the Shortcut, then Paste it into this folder ---
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup If you want All Users to have it open.

OR
Place it here -----
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup if you want to have it only start for you. Username would refer to your user account.
