How to split an audio file

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 1GB
I have an mp3 file that is too large to put on a CD. How can I split it in half so I can put it on 2 CD’s

I like to use audacity. Either reduce the bit rate or if you want split into two.

The problem with using wave editing software like Audacity is that it has to decode the mp3 first, then re-encode it once your done editing. This degrades the audio when you have to re-encode. Most of the mp3 splitters don't need to decode so there is no degradation of quality.
