Maybe your network isn't up to it. Does it work well in other online situations?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Have you checked what your typical download bandwidth/speed is from your ISP?

Perhaps run or two online speed tests and see what they show?

Is your ISP serving via copper, all the way, or fibre (at least to the street cabinet); ideally fibre all the way

The D610 is over 10 yrs old. Has it ever been upgraded or are you still running the original amount of RAM? It can handle up to 2GB (2x1GB) of DDR2-533. Which graphics does it have? The Radeon X300 would be better than the Intel GMA900. Regardless of which one you have, make sure you're running the latest drivers. Is Windows fully up to date - SP3 plus all the updates?

Here's your laptop's spec sheet:

Try using CCleaner-Portable, both the cleaner & the registry scanner. Remove everything they find (don't worry, it's completely safe). You can also use it to manage startup apps. See response #3 in this thread:

Make sure you're running a lightweight anti-virus program. I recommend BitDefender Free (make sure you register). And use VLC Player for your videos and/or DVDs; not Windows Media Player.
