Specs: Windows XP
Hi :)

I'm trying remove an old domain & network from windows XP laptop. I am logged in under Admin but I do not have the password, etc for the domain/network.

I'm in system properties/computer name now but am afraid to move forward with anything if it causes me to be locked out of the computer completely...?

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

If it's your computer (always a tricky issue on this forum and others of similar standing/standards) and you merely wish to use it as in a workgroup - do a google trawl to that effect.

That you say you are able to login as Admin does suggest things are above board here? So the links below and others like them (via google) ought to enable you to proceed...

Note that you cannot do this without actually logging on... (legitimately...)

Remember that once you remove a computer from a domain and set it to a workgroup, you cannot go back onto the domain unless the Admin for that domain allows it and is willing to do so.

Typical string/search term might be:

remove laptop from domain windows XP

are three such response...

If you're at al concerned about loss of access to data... suggest you first copy anything important (stuff you don't want to lose) to external storage; typically DVD or an external HD - ideally both. (The latter is is always a useful second storage system.)
