How to lock the drive of hard disk

Specs: Windows XP
I want to set the password for my hard disk partition (D drive).Is it possible and how.

rose_123, SWAG, dunno about an entire partition, suspect it'd be the same as a logon password. Individual folders can be done in folder properties or zipped. Maybe partitions can be set to 'read only'?
