Solved How to install Word 2003 in XP Professional SP3?

September 28, 2017 at 13:37:16
Specs: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel Core-2, 8GB RAM
I have been using public computers for the past 4+ years, so I have never downloaded apps, installed, burned DVDs, etc. I now have a used PC from Ebay having XP Pro. I bought a Microsoft Office 2003 install-CD, and need to know how to add it to XP Pro...preferably just the Word 2003 component, as the rest is of no interest. Can anyone provide links to tutorials or step-by-step instructions? Thanks!

I've had mine since Win 8.1.(OS Upgrade to Win 10) so it was some time ago. I don't recall having any problem with it or having to contact MS. Mine was an ex business copy and I just input the product key when it asked.

Better see this lot though:

Maybe there will be some more inputs on this thread.

Hmm. Google can be quite revealing if you come unstuck.....

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

If you are able to boot into XP OK,and you have a proper (full) version of Office 2003, simply insert the CD into the drive and let it run itself up.

There will be an option to select which components you wish to install; usually via the custom mode.

This is the M$ - how to go about it: and part way down is the section on selecting which components you wish to install.

It should run fine - I'm using it on Windows 10 as well.

If you happen to install some part you don't want you should be able to deselect parts by clicking the entry in Control Panel > Add-Remove Programs.

Thanks! One last thing...I see on the disc some sort of activation code. If similar to XP Pro, this suggests one must either be online or phone in the code to authenticate it. Is this true for Microsoft Office 2003?
