Specs: Windows XP, Intel Centrino Duo/2GB
Hello to all,

I want to install windows xp sp2 on my laptop which have Windows Vista preinstalled. When I tried to install windows xp on my laptop it gives me error

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer."

My laptop might be SATA , hence how can I make my Windows XP bootable disk so that it includes all pre-required drivers to install it?

Thanks in advance.

There are answers to this question elsewhere on the site.

But a little advice. Does the laptop's manufacturer have XP drivers for it (including SATA ones) on their website or provided to you on CD. Becuase if not, you are going to be struggling to get it working properly.

On most laptops if you get into the bios settings there's a setting for SATA drive to be in AHCI mode or IDE/legacy mode. If you set the second option, xp install disk will see the drive ok.

In Compaq Presario CQ42 372TU we do not find SATA drive to be in AHCI mode or IDE/legacy mode. I didn't find such option like that. Help me
