December 11, 2010 at 02:51:39
Specs: Windows XP
M/S Home Xp Tried to uncheck Winzip and 2 rows of 2 squares . I got it after downloading WinXip update. When I want to uncheck from Startup , WinZip was gone but the squares didn't and every time I start my computer I have a message Computer cannot find the file.
Windows NT current.
Sorry, my English is not very good.
Many Thanks.

... click "start" run (type) regedit [press enter]

... follow this path:
+HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run << click Run in left pane

... in the right pane right click delete the entry you wish to remove (carefull)

Programs can run from three places at startup:
1.The Startup groups
(Startup folders or msconfig Startup tab)
2.The "run=" and "load="
lines in the Win.ini file.
3.The Run and RunOnce lines in the registry
(Lots of those)

As chuck 2 has pointed out, disabling a line from loading something in msconfig by removing the check mark won't necessarily prevent it from loading.

If you still have Winzip installed, run the Winzip program and find the setting for Load xxx on Startup or similar, and disable that.

Thanks Mavis for telling me that as I didn't know. I am not very clever with PC. Haven't got it long and I am pretty old.
My sincere Regards Zdenka.
