"had to instal win xp because my pro xp would not fix"

Did you try a "repair installation"? All you have to do is reinstall XP to the C drive without formatting. Here's how it's done:

Your files will not be touched when repairing. That's what it's purpose is.

"Do I need to delite one of the partitions"

No, but I'm sure if you took it out for dinner and a movie it would respond much better to your commands.

Hello gus8,
How many partitions in your disk where c and f drive locate? If you have other partitions, you may use some partition manager softwares to resize the partitions to extend the c and f drive in no need of formatting or losing data.
