how to find if DHCP server is there

hi guys, is there a way to prob the presence of DHCP from may be XP command line? Thanks!

If you type configure /all at the command line it will give you lots of information on your network, including whether DHCP is in use or not.

If you have an IP address in the range 169.254.x.x it means that for some reason the DHCP server is not available. and you need to set a manual IP address.

Yes, should have been ipconfig /all. No idea what made me type configure. Must have had something else on my mind.
