how to delete without making a copy in windows xp
every time i try to right click and select delete with photos or shortcuts windows makes a copy
and i have many copy's of the same picture or shortcut,
Why does this happen and how can i stop it

you are moving the mouse during the operation. doing so makes the OS think you are performing a copy to the same folder operation.

click once on the file and then hit your delete button
or
use control key and mouse to individually select none contigous files and then hit the delete button
or
use the shift key, click once on the top file, hold the shift key down and select the last file in the list you want to delete and hit the delete key.
