You could try using one of the programs from , They're the makers of Object Dock and a few other good programs, one of which allows you to use custom boot screens/logon screens. (I had one when I made my install of XP look like Mac OS).

Actually I would like to customize also the part of the boot screen corresponding to the bartpe message apearing right before the win xp boot screen message while the bartpe win xp live cd is loaded.
I have not found any program to do this under Stardock.
Any idea?

Unfortunately, I only know of Stardock's programs, but, I'm sure you could find something under a google search.

For the wallpaper, replace C:\pebuilder3110a\bartpe.bmp with the image you want as your wallpaper.

You will find the default XP wallpaper at C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper\bliss.bmp.
Both of these, assume the C drive as the installation location.

Thanks, but what I want to customize is the screen appearing before the win xp loading bar, that is to say, the screen in which something about bartpe is said.
Any idea?
