I would like to add a scripture to my desktop picture. I tried Paint but to no avail. Is there a program that helps me to do this?

Did you try bringing up the bmp or jpg file into Publisher or PowerPoint assuming you are running Office?

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

swollenolan, I use a freebie program called 'Irfanview' (excellent graphics proggie! Get it @: http://www.irfanview.com) to do what you describe. Suspect you can do the same with 'Paint', but dunno, never tried it.
First open the picture, copy the desired text to put it on your clipboard, then define the area of your picture where you'd like the text to appear (creates a box on the pix), then under 'edit' insert text (Ctrl+V to paste the clipboard into the text menu). You will have a menu which allows you to select font and color. Once satisfied, OK, then simply save your masterpiece somewhere and make it your sig (you can have more than one).
HTH.
