Specs: Windows XP Corporate, Pentium 4 HT wth EMT64 @ 3.00 GHz, 1 Gb.
Hello, I was given a Windows XP CD marked "Windows XP Corporate" and I was wondering, how do I tell if this is a legal version of XP Corporate or a pirated version? I do know there was a leaked key.

Thanks

I can safely say it is not legal as such for you to install it.

It is possible that corporate cd's can be sold but you'd have to be offered some sales receipt from that company and some other conditions may have to be met.

A disc is a disc. The product key is what makes it legal or illegal.

Is it a copy of a disk? You can legally have copies of corporate cd's. You can not have copies of common home user cd's. That is a copyright issue.

What I mean is you can make a copy of a corporate disk if you purchase the rights to own it from MS.

Ok, the final conclusion, The Disk is Legal and not at the same time. It has an unleaked key on the CD, It is a copied disk, the original licensee gave me the disk with my motherboard, he sent me an e-mail stating what the disk was and that it was his only disk. (I could tell the CD had been used often, it has many scratches from normal use).

I didn't use the disk because I had no written approval from the owner, only an e-mail and I had no way of telling if the licenses were all used.

Pentium 4s - The processors for the rest of us.
