After installing XP Pro I have no activation options. Nothing in System Tools either. Is there a registry fix that will initiate the activation process?

After 30 days all you should get when starting is the activation option. (You'll be able to boot into Safe Mode but this is not desirable to most people.)

Just what is your machine doing?

It's a good day when you learn something

Don't double post. Why didn't you respond to your original thread?

Hill - there is something wrong with my IE7 browser - it doesn't give me up to date info. I couldn't even find my original post so I posted again. I finally had to use Mozilla to find your replies. Anyway, when I tried to go thru a windows validation process I got a message back that the validation had failed because windows had not verified the product code used in the install. But since I never activated windows MS never had a chance to verify my product code. That's why I want to manually initiate the activation process which I never got after the install.

Windows7 wants to automatically connect to their servers and they register at that time. You had a chance to opt out of that process but you must not have.

Is your copy legal?

The O.S. in question here is XP Pro. My browser is Internet Explorer 7. The problem is that I have no way of activating the install, thus I can't receive updates because the validation process won't accept my product code since the install was never actually activated.

You could call MSoft and straighten it out.
