how do I solve acopy command using dos prompt

December 7, 2010 at 01:35:41
Specs: Windows XP, AMD AthlonIIx2 245 291 GHz 2.00GB RAM
I'm copying files from an external HD to a XP desktop and I keep getting an error message saying
"Cannot copy file name: Invalid MS-DOS function. Can someone tell me what this means and how to resolve it so I can transfer my files. Some files copy correctly and some do not.

Thanks in advance
Danny

Thanks for replying, I'm just using the normal highlighting files right click copy and right click to paste click. Out of 683 files 60 did not copy due to that error message and I really would like to transfer those files as well.

Thanks, Danny

do a chkdsk /f on the drive and see if that doesn't correct the issue.
