Solved how do i set up a compaq tower that is second hand

Specs: Windows xp
it has had a new internal battery fitted and when turned on says time and date not set
when set up f10 is pressed screen says parity check 2

That could be caused by several different problems. Does the system boot without the RAM? I'd check all the connections, including any expansion cards that are installed.

What's the model number?

"parity check 2" usually means a problem with a PCI card. Do you have any cards installed - sound, modem, etc? If you do, try removing them, then see if the system will boot. If it does, go directly into the BIOS Setup & correct all the settings that were lost due to the CMOS battery replacement.
