how do i remove corrupt file if i cant boot u

Specs: Windows XP sp3, 1.7 GHz Pentium M processor, 1GB RAM
When i try to boot up my dell 610 laptop it shuts off and on never getting past the windows screen.It does same thing when i try to boot in safe mode. I insert xp installation cd( original cd for laptop)to try to boot up it says file symc810.sys is corrupt. press any key to exit set up. How do i remove a corrupt file if i cant get in to my computer from HDD or install cd?
